Hallucinogens
Hallucinogens including lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) are normally supplied as a liquid which has been blotted onto paper and is ingested. LSD and, from 2005, magic mushrooms containing psilocin are class A drugs.
The effects
- Colours and patterns are brighter, sharper and sometimes distorted
- Good or bad trips depend on the mood of the user
- The high of the drug can last from 1 hour to 9 hours (or more) depending on the drug and amount taken
- Hallucinations
- Time is distorted
The risks
- Increases mental health problems
- Can bring underlying mental health problems to the surface
- Flashbacks days or months after usage
- Possibility of harming yourself if you suffer a bad trip
- Anxiety, paranoia, depression
