Hallucinogens

Hallucinogens including lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) are normally supplied as a liquid which has been blotted onto paper and is ingested. LSD and, from 2005, magic mushrooms containing psilocin are class A drugs.

The effects

• Colours and patterns are brighter, sharper and sometimes distorted
• Good or bad trips depend on the mood of the user
• The high of the drug can last from 1 hour to 9 hours (or more) depending on the drug and amount taken
• Hallucinations
• Time is distorted

The risks

• Increases mental health problems
• Can bring underlying mental health problems to the surface
• Flashbacks days or months after usage
• Possibility of harming yourself if you suffer a bad trip
• Anxiety, paranoia, depression
